Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Nearing return from IL
Manager Dave Roberts suggested Sunday that Graterol (conditioning) could be activated from the 10-day injured list by next weekend, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.Rather than because of an injury, Graterol began the season on the IL after a bout with COVID-19 earlier this year kept him behind the Dodgers' other pitchers this spring from a conditioning standpoint. Graterol appears to have avoided any snags in the build-up process over the past couple of weeks, and his 2021 debut should soon be imminent. Roberts said Graterol will likely pitch in simulated games at the Dodgers' alternate site in two of the next three days, and if all goes well, he could join the team for a much-anticipated series in San Diego next weekend.
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Requires IL stint to begin season
Graterol will begin the 2021 season on the injured list, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.Graterol has been brought along slowly this spring after an offseason that featured inconsistent throwing. The right-hander didn't appear in any Cactus League games this year and won't be ready to pitch in time for Opening Day. It's not yet clear when Graterol will be available, but he should play a high-leverage role for the Dodgers once he's built up.
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Won't see game action
Graterol won't appear in a Cactus League game this spring, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. The Dodgers have held Graterol back all spring, though he will face live hitters at some point according to manager Dave Roberts. Graterol's progression leaves his status for Opening Day in question, though once he is ready to take the mound he should serve as a high-leverage reliever for the team.
