Padres' Tommy Pham: Undergoes surgery for stab wound
Pham underwent surgery to address a stab wound in his lower back Sunday night, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.According to Acee, the incident took place Sunday night in San Diego. He was able to avoid any organ damage and is in good condition. "I'd like to thank the incredible medical staff at UC San Diego Health for taking such great care of me last night," stated Pham. "I truly appreciate the hard work of the San Diego Police Department as well as they continue their search for the suspects. While it was a very traumatic and eye-opening experience for me, I'm on the road to recovery and I know I'll be back to my offseason training routine in no time."

Pham went 0-for-3 with a walk and stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLDS.Pham was walked by Walker Buehler in the third inning and proceeded to swipe second base following a Wil Myers strikeout. The 32-year-old missed almost half of the regular season due to injury, but the veteran continues to show that this has not hampered his ability to be a threat on the base paths. The right-handed hitter slashed .211/.312/.312 during the regular season.

Pham (hand) is starting in left field and batting fifth in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Cardinals on Friday.The 32-year-old has been dealing with sporadic pain in his left hand since returning from surgery in mid-September, but it won't prevent him from starting Friday's winner-take-all contest. Pham is on a tear through the first two games of the series, going 6-for-9 with two doubles, one run, one RBI and on stolen base.
